The Calm Is the Storm
Untitled, 2022

In life, we were raised to believe depression is only reserved for the worst moments of our life. Then we grow up and learn the truth for ourselves. Even when everything is appearing to go right— perfect health, high GPA, an active social life— we may still find ourselves accompanied by our depression. because just like people, emotions aren’t that simple. After realizing you won’t find your salvation in medication or cognitive behavioral therapy, you eventually learn to make a home in this vague space with yourself. Suspended somewhere between two polarities, you find solace in the inbetween. The Calm Is the Storm is about these little moments, the ones that make things feel worth it, make things feel ok.
